TOUR CV13: DISCOVER UNUSUAL ROME
Drive along the old Appian Way up to the hidden place where the first Christians in Rome professed their religion - the Catacombs.
Here, it is possible to see some ancient religious graffiti and relive the atmosphere of prayer so typical of these sacred places.
After this intense visit you will proceed to the Basilica of St. Peter’s in Chains to admire the astonishing Moses by Michelangelo,
probably the artist’s highest achievement.
Lunch will be served in a local restaurant and in the afternoon you will reach the very heart of the city and will start a walking
tour to discover the true spirit of Renaissance Rome – a city enriched by precious canvases often forgotten by the majority of visitors.
Not everyone knows that Michelangelo Merisi - this was the real name of Caravaggio - lived and worked in the city ruled by the Popes.
Between 1500 and 1600 he painted for the wealthiest Roman families and decorated their private chaples situated in little churches
scattered throughout the historic centre. Together with your guide you will be able to admire the original colours and the incredible
contrast of some of the artist’s most famous works.
