TOUR CV08: TUSCANY MAREMMA COUNTRYSIDE & WINETASTING
In the beginning , the term “Marittima” was an adjective which, joined with the noun “regio” indicated any spot on
land that afforded a view and scent of the sea. Then the adjective became a proper name of a part of the Etruscan
coast and turned into MAREMMA. Prehistoric populations left traces of their presence, the Etruscans and the Romans
built flourishing cities and left a wealth of archeological remains which are another great attraction of the area.
Your excursion will start travelling through the OLD VIA AURELIA, the longest of the seven “CONSULAR ROADS”,
starting in Rome and ending up in France.
You will drive for approximately one hour till you arrive in the Southern part of Tuscany to a small farmhouse
that produces its own wine. You will visit a local wine cellar to learn about the traditional bottling methods
still being used today. You will be invited to enjoy a generous tasting accompanied by local cheese and salami.
You will have some free time to enjoy and taste the relaxing atmosphere of the Maremma and to shop at the winery.
